Tegaserod is a medicine to increase bowel movement and used to treat short term IBS (irritable bowel syndrome), abdominal pain and discomfort, bloating, and constipation for women. The hydrogen maleate salt of tegaserod is a white to off-white crystalline powder; practicaly insoluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol; melting point 152 - 153 C; administered orally. Chemical designation is 3-(5-methoxy-1H-indol-3-ylmethylene)-N-pentylcarbazimidamide hydrogen maleate. | ||
